Production manager Kruse, lacking actors or crew, brashly claims he can direct a revue film. To avoid humiliation he gathers a dramaturg, a composer, a writer and an architect, tasking them with turning his vague idea into a movie. While unknown composer Alexander Ritter throws himself into the project, the other three quickly become mired in the chaotic, thankless undertaking.
