Both Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius McNitt are embarking on their second marriages. The socially ambitious Mrs. McNitt enlists Clifford Figfield to stage a charity pageant, using it to hobnob with the elite and to secure Larry Lodge, the pageant’s leading man, as a husband for her flighty daughter Phyllis. In a twist, Larry falls for Sally McNitt, the visiting daughter of Mr. McNitt, and she returns his affection.
