When a mature and caring Ukrainian woman named Vlada Koza becomes a first-time grandmother, she abruptly leaves her home in the Carpathian mountains to visit her daughter in Sicily. Unwanted and put out, her daughter quickly dismisses her. Now alone and without money, Vlada’s life takes an unexpected turn after a car accident leads her to become the unlikely governess for Don Fredo, head of the Laganàs, a struggling mafia family. Vlada’s persistent nature and desire to help unexpectedly bring a sense of calm to the Laganà household, until she discovers the true nature of the family she’s become a part of.
