A comic sketch shows two performers who both believe they are deaf and therefore keep shouting at each other. The piece belongs to the Edison Kinetophone Collection; the Kinetophone was a sophisticated mechanical system that produced talking pictures by recording sound and image together, a pioneering alternative to earlier lip‑sync methods.
