Paul, an unmarried middle‑aged man, runs an insurance company where his employee Manolis Petichakis suggests his sister Eve for the secretary role. Urged by his friend Tasos, Paul answers a sentimental advertisement and arranges a meeting with a woman who signs her letters “The Rose of Isfahan.” The encounter unexpectedly erupts into a blaze.
