Little Bobo the elephant is tired of hauling logs and dreams of a circus in America. He paints himself pink to board a ship, since no one will admit seeing a pink elephant. A street‑cleaner washes off the paint, exposing him. He is arrested and sentenced to a circus, where he becomes the “bat boy” for the baseball team, carrying logs as bats.
