A psychiatric doctor descends into madness after being plagued by terrifying hallucinations of the notorious horror figure Zé do Caixão attempting to abduct his wife. His colleagues intervene, recruiting the real-life filmmaker José Mojica Marins, who attempts to convince the delusional doctor that the specter is merely fictional.
