In 1964, high‑school friends Brice and Cleveland leave their Michigan suburb for a summer on a rural farm. Lonely farmer Jack Bodell takes them in, and Cleveland finds the father figure he’s missed while working the land. Brice falls for a local girl, Cindy. The season ends quickly, yet the memories stay. Four years later they return to discover the past can’t be reclaimed.
