At the start of the Spanish Civil War, nun Maria flees her convent and finds shelter in a brothel, which is later taken over by an all‑female anarchist unit. She joins the fighters, heads to the front, and confronts the dual challenge of battling Nationalist forces while contending with left‑wing factions that demand a conventional military hierarchy.
