The film follows an elephant keeper at Beijing Zoo who keeps a home aquarium of fish and her lesbian partner, a fabric vendor from a bustling street market. Their romance is deeply strained when the keeper’s recently divorced mother returns, hoping to arrange a marriage, while an ex‑lover of Xiaoqun reappears, now hunted by the authorities.
