The film begins with a disturbing image, prompting a reflection on whether acts like murder can ever be truly atoned for through time and forgiveness. It explores this theme through the stories of three men: two convicted lifers, one longing to start a family and the other dedicating himself to a craft, and a philosopher with personal experience of incarceration. Their experiences illuminate the strange and suspended nature of life within the confines of the prison system, and the possibility of redemption.
