Madrim, a porter, believes he is the world’s most unlucky man. His friend Kadir, who runs a local mushola, urges him to pray earnestly. Madrim complies, yet his circumstances remain unchanged, leading him to contemplate robbery. In a desperate prayer he threatens God, saying that if his wish is not granted within three days he will turn to the devil. On the third day a bolt of lightning strikes him, leaving him unconscious.
