Adapted from the classic German children’s book, the film presents ten illustrated rhymed tales delivering exaggerated moral lessons. Director Fritz Genschow, known for fairy‑tale adaptations, offers a darker take on Hoffmann’s stories, where misbehaving children face extreme punishments—burns, starvation, amputations. A miraculous Christmas‑type reversal restores them, ending on hope.
