An alien microbe crash‑lands in remote Siberia in the 1950s. Decades later, in 2004, a U.S. researcher at a covert underground Alaskan facility clones the organism. Moments before the lab goes into lockdown, a garbled distress transmission—its last word—echoes. A squad of scientists and military personnel is dispatched to uncover the disaster.
