After returning from Japan, silk maker Hank Medhill learns his ex‑girlfriend Eleanor Breen is about to marry. He convinces her to leave the groom and marry him, but they soon find they have nothing in common and split. Hank then picks a random name from the phone book for a date, which turns chaotic and frightening as Eleanor’s plan unfolds.
