Brooks, an eccentric, wealthy teen with a love of big‑band music, bow ties and odd photography, steals a mannequin from a clothing store and meets Anne, a free‑spirited young deaf girl who works there. Their friendship deepens as he learns sign language and she helps him face his fear of water, while his overbearing father, bullying brother and the father’s new girlfriend push him to conform.
