During a grocery trip, timid middle‑aged Samuel Smith and his dog Rover are hit by a speeding car. An ambulance arrives, but the paramedic mistakenly gives Samuel dog plasma and Rover human plasma. Both recover instantly; Samuel suddenly exhibits canine habits, while Rover gains the ability to walk upright and speak, much to the bewilderment of his wife Margaret and everyone else.
