The story follows hard‑hearted Marshal Clay Morgan, nicknamed “Black Patch” after losing an eye in the Civil War, as he enforces law in a rough New Mexico town. Rumors claim he once shot a man in the back to steal a woman, and his resolve is tested when his old friend Hank Danner arrives, bringing past conflicts and new danger to the settlement.
