In a Walking with Dinosaurs special, scientists explain how the well‑preserved Allosaurus skeleton nicknamed ‘Big Al’ was uncovered in 1991 in a dried‑up riverbed where the adolescent predator died 145 million years ago. The film follows Al’s growth from hatchling to apex hunter, examines the many wounds on his bones, and showcases the forensic and paleontological techniques used to reconstruct his life, drawing on studies of his closest living relatives.
