Kui, Keung, Chung and Wing are close friends who share a passion for music and form the band Beyond. Kui toils endlessly to fund his family’s emigration plan, exhausting himself into illness. Keung seeks career success but is framed by his boss. Chung’s dream of becoming a police officer is denied because of his frail health. Wing hopes to study music at Hong Kong University, yet his girlfriend (Faye Wong) and her parents push him toward a medical career. Their bonds and music become the means to confront these struggles and rediscover their paths.
