M, a mystery novelist, has been in a five‑year relationship with F, who vanished on Halloween night. When a woman arrives claiming to be F’s sister, he launches a frantic search, only to hear from each person a description of a woman who bears little resemblance to the F he thought he knew. The search drags him into unsettling memories, making him doubt his own recollections and the reality of his lost love.
