During the 1980s, a vibrant youth movement took hold in America, centered around the intense and energetic hardcore punk rock scene. This film explores the rise of this subculture, following a group of young people who found community and a voice through the music. Driven by frustration and a desire for change, they navigated the Reagan era, experiencing both the exhilarating highs and challenging realities of belonging to a close-knit group of outsiders. American Hardcore captures the passion and intensity of this era, from its underground roots to its eventual mainstream recognition between 1980 and 1986.
