Action Replayy

The movie opens with scenes showing the constant bickering and acrimony between Kishen and Mala, highlighting their contrasting personalities and the dysfunctional relationship. Their parents' hostility and their own differences lay the foundation for the story. Bunty, their son, refuses to marry his girlfriend Tanya due to the family chaos.

Bunty is introduced to Tanya's eccentric grandfather, Professor Anthony Gonsalves, who has invented a time-travel machine. Bunty's curiosity about the device leads to an exploration of past events, and he travels back to Holi 1975, setting the stage for changing history.

Bunty travels back in time to 1975 Mumbai, known then as Bombay, and meets his young parents. He observes their different personalities: his father as a buck-toothed, wimpy man, and his mother as a goon-like tomboy. The time machine malfunctions during this trip, adding complications.

While in 1975, Bunty attempts to influence events to prevent the future conflicts between his parents, grandparents, and Kundan. He navigates the turbulent socio-political landscape of the Emergency, Raman Raghav, and cultural icons like Rajesh Khanna, trying to mend relationships.

Bunty observes and interacts with his young parents and relatives, discovering their personalities and conflicts. Mala has wasted a large sum of money, and Kishen feels they are heading toward divorce. Kundan, who is unlucky in love, teams up with Mala to humiliate Kishen.

Bunty befriends Kishen and Mala, encouraging them to see their good sides. He promises Kishen money if he manages to win Mala’s affection. Bunty gives Kishen a makeover, boosts his confidence, and teaches him style and household skills, resulting in a positive transformation.

Kishen, inspired by Bunty, begins to genuinely love Mala and seeks to win her over. Kundan, on the other hand, develops feelings for Mala and plans to marry her, creating new tensions. Kundan’s pursuit and Kishen’s efforts culminate in a singing contest to win Mala’s affection.

Kishen impresses everyone by winning the singing competition arranged by Kundan, who had enticed him into the contest. Despite winning, Kishen initially acts aloof, but he eventually confesses his love to Mala, leading to a romantic breakthrough.

Kishen and Mala’s love faces opposition from Bholi and Rai Bahadur Dhyanchand, who oppose love marriages. Bunty intervenes and arranges a secret wedding in a temple, but Bholi and Rai follow them, demanding the couple’s reconciliation or separation.

Kundan insults Mala and is beaten by Kishen, which symbolizes Kishen’s courage. Kundan then accepts Kishen as his brother-in-law, and Bholi and Rai Bahadur finally support the marriage, recognizing Kishen’s sincerity and love for Mala.

Bunty returns to his own time with the repaired device, observing that Kishen and Mala are deeply in love, and Kundan is happily married to Mona. Kundan respects Kishen, and their family finds happiness. Bunty finally proposes to Tanya at the end of the story.
