In the summer of 1967, the Tunisian seaside town of La Goulette is home to three seventeen‑year‑old friends: Gigi, a Catholic Sicilian; Meriem, a Tunisian Arab; and Tina, a Jewish French girl. They each pursue their first sexual experience, endangering the friendship of their fathers—Youssef, Jojo and Giuseppe—while the wealthy Arab Hadj wishes to marry Meriem.
