The Last Voyage of the Demeter

On August 6, 1897, the merchant ship Demeter arrives in England, but its condition is alarming. The authorities discover the ship in ruins, setting the stage for a haunting tale of horror and survival.

A month earlier, the Demeter docks in Varna, Bulgaria, to collect cargo destined for London. The crew faces local resistance when loading ominously large wooden crates that evoke fear due to their markings.

Clemens, a physician, overhears the crew's need for extra hands and offers his medical expertise. However, Wojchek prefers an older hire, sidelining Clemens from joining the crew initially.

When an older crew member panics and releases a crate marked with a dragon emblem, Clemens springs into action to save Eliot's grandson, Toby, from being crushed. Captain Eliot recognizes Clemens’ bravery and hires him as a replacement crew member.

As the Demeter sails through the Aegean Sea, a crate unexpectedly breaks, revealing a dirt-covered woman. Clemens performs urgent blood transfusions to save her, unaware that their troubles are just beginning.

After a mysterious encounter with the ship's stowaway, Anna, Olgaren collapses and exhibits signs of vampirism. The crew learns of the terrifying creature, Dracula, from Anna’s chilling tales of blood and horror.

Chaos ensues aboard the Demeter as Dracula begins to hunt the crew at night. The first victims include Olgaren, who falls under Dracula's control, and Toby, who is bitten, leading to a nightmarish struggle for survival.

During a turbulent funeral for Toby, he unexpectedly rises and threatens the crew. Clemens, acting quickly, must confront his friend’s transformation and ultimately throws Toby overboard to prevent further disaster.

As Dracula's wrath intensifies, Captain Eliot, Abrams, and Wojchek fall victim to the vampire. The crew is left in horror as they battle both the creature and their own despair, leading to multiple tragic losses.

In the midst of chaos, Anna is bitten while trying to save Clemens but fights back with incredible will. With her transformation imminent, she makes the heartbreaking choice to self-immolate at dawn, ending her suffering.

In a local tavern, Clemens seeks solace through art and sketches Anna's portrait, illustrating the bond they shared during the harrowing journey. Despite his attempts to regain composure, the memories of their shared torment linger.

Clemens's tranquility is shattered when he encounters Dracula, who now appears as an aristocrat. Driven by the need for vengeance and haunted by the losses of his friends, Clemens is resolute to rid the world of this vampire threat.
