Rakesh Menon [Siddique] is a music producer who is married to a singer. He and his friends gather every Friday for loud, jokes-filled get-togethers where they mock others behind their backs, whimsically labeling them as “talent.” They relish the sense of control this game gives them, even if it means missing out on family commitments and important moments at home.

One of Rakesh’s friends crosses paths with Krishnanunni, an affable yet talkative Jagadish who, in Veber’s script, works as an Income Tax Inspector and carries a photo album that showcases his musical life. This encounter plants the seed for a potential new source of amusement for the group, and Rakesh quickly invites Krishnanunni to his home for dinner, hoping to gauge his potential as a talking point for the party crowd.

Krishnanunni is a self-promoting, buoyant singer at heart, someone who genuinely wants to help others but often ends up creating more chaos than clarity. He can be endearingly annoying to the person seated beside him, yet he also has a talent for turning awkward moments into funny, memorable scenes for everyone watching.

When Friday finally arrives, disaster briefly strikes: Rakesh slips and falls into a swimming pool, injuring his back and keeping him bedridden and largely immobile. Nevertheless, he still intends to meet Krishnanunni to judge his merit as entertainment. Before Krishnanunni arrives, Rakesh’s wife leaves after a heated argument, setting a tense mood in the house. A misstep occurs when Krishnanunni, asked to call a family doctor, accidentally dials Rakesh’s girlfriend instead, throwing the situation into further confusion.

Desperate to salvage the evening, Rakesh implores Krishnanunni to depart, yet Krishnanunni persists in trying to help by tracing his wife’s movements. In a comic turn, Krishnanunni makes a questionable choice by contacting Rakesh’s wife’s former boyfriend, Biju Menon as “Sarath,” under a false identity. Instead of clarifying matters, the call reveals Rakesh’s attempt to extract information, and Sarath warns that his wife might have attended a party hosted by a sexual predator.

Meanwhile, a colleague of Krishnanunni—the same world of Tax inspectors that threads through the story—knows where this mystery person might be. Sathyakaman, a vividly eccentric character brought to life by Jagathy Sreekumar, loves cricket and is an ardent admirer of Sachin Tendulkar, adding a light, cricket-obsessed thread to the escalating confusion.

As the tension grows, the wife confronts Krishnanunni, accusing him of dragging her into Rakesh’s schemes for the sake of a joke. Krishnanunni, ever well-meaning though imperfect, still wants to mend the rift—communicating how truly sorry Rakesh is and how much he loves her, even if the message arrives tangled in misunderstandings.

Krishnanunni’s attempt to help continues with a bold move: he dials Rakesh’s wife, who had endured a car accident after leaving the apartment for a second time (the first time being when Krishnanunni had sent her away, mistaken for Rakesh’s ex-girlfriend). He crafts nearly flawless excuses on the spot, without prompt, trying to smooth over the hurt and miscommunication. Yet the chaos peaks again when he answers the phone during a call with Brochant, despite having claimed to be in a phone booth, highlighting the slapstick flaw at the heart of his good intentions.

The result is a sprawling, intertwined tapestry of miscommunication, misguided humor, and fragile relationships tested by misunderstandings. What begins as a lighthearted evening of ridicule spirals into a series of confusions that reveal how far friends—and lovers—will go to protect one another, even when their actions cause more trouble than relief. The film uses its ensemble cast to explore loyalty, vanity, and the slippery line between playful prank and real harm, all punctuated by moments of warmth, chaos, and comic timing that keep the story moving forward.
